Lesson 7 — Where do you live? (你住在哪里？ / Nǐ zhù zài nǎ lǐ?)

2. Grammar | 语法

Structure:
【Subject】+ 住在 + 【Place】
Use this to say where you or someone else lives.

Examples:

• 你住在哪里？
  Nǐ zhù zài nǎ lǐ?
  Where do you live?
• 我住在金边。
  Wǒ zhù zài Jīnbiān.
  I live in Phnom Penh.
• 他住在中国。
  Tā zhù zài Zhōngguó.
  He lives in China.
• 我们住在学校。
  Wǒmen zhù zài xuéxiào.
  We live at school.
• 我住在城市里。
  Wǒ zhù zài chéngshì lǐ.
  I live in the city.
• 她住在乡下。
  Tā zhù zài xiāngxià.
  She lives in the countryside.
• 我住在公寓附近。
  Wǒ zhù zài gōngyù fùjìn.
  I live near the apartment.

Tips:

• Use “在” to indicate location: 我住在学校 = I live at school.
• Use “附近” to indicate nearby: 我住在公园附近 = I live near the park.
• Use “楼” to indicate building/floor: 我住在三楼 = I live on the 3rd floor.

B：暹粒很漂亮！	Xiānliè hěn piàoliang!	Siem Reap is very beautiful!
A：你住在城市还是乡下？	Nǐ zhù zài chéngshì háishì xiāngxià?	Do you live in the city or countryside?
B：我住在城市里，但我周末喜欢去乡下。	Wǒ zhù zài chéngshì lǐ, dàn wǒ zhōumò xǐhuān qù xiāngxià.	I live in the city, but I like to go to the countryside on weekends.
A：我也住在城市附近，有一个公园和社区很近。	Wǒ yě zhù zài chéngshì fùjìn, yǒu yīgè gōngyuán hé shèqū hěn jìn.	I also live near the city, there is a park and community nearby.
B：真好，我们可以一起去公园散步。	Zhēn hǎo, wǒmen kěyǐ yīqǐ qù gōngyuán sànbù.	Great, we can go for a walk in the park together.
